If you are standing infront of your car, turn the top of the distributor away from you.

If looking at the side of it (standing on the passenger side) you would turn it counter clockwise to advance.

Remember though if you advance the timing we are not liable for any damage caused by it. You should also use higher octane gas - 91-93 octane.
