I guess my main point was that you don't want to go slamming your car on OEM struts. The H&Rs or something similar would probably still keep you in the OEM range without getting radical. And if you weren't ready to go all out on a suspension set-up and your struts were about ready to be replaced anyway, you could maybe do some KYB GR-2s on a budget. They are a very good OEM replacement and may even be a little better in ride quality than OEM. The GR-2s would be just fine with something like the H&Rs with a mild drop.
However, if you want to slam your car, then you'll need to have a set-up to support that and OEM will not.
