Will Homosexuality save the human race?
This is a very complicated question and needs a little bit of background in order for me to ask and involves a few key assumptions
First, is the fact that humans have been experiencing exponential population growth for the past 200 years or so.
Second, any population that increases too fast (like humans) eventually passes its environments carrying capacity. The faster the rate of increase the more it overshoots the carrying capacity and the more the population crashes as a result. Eventually, if the increase is great enough the crash is so severe that it wipes out the entire population. This is a result of the fact that organisms cannot respond instantaneously and by the time the crash starts resources have already been depleted to the point where the environment cannot recover.
Third, this is assuming that the earth has a carrying capacity. This is assumed because all environments have a carrying capacity so the earth as a whole also should. With this in mind the exponential rate of human population growth will reach a point that will eventually surpass the earth’s carrying capacity to such a degree that the environment will not recover and this will lead to human extinction.
Fourth, we are assuming that homosexuality is built into all organisms as a way to compensate for overpopulation. This means the greater the degree of overpopulation the greater the populations percent of homosexuals. This is assumed by the fact that areas with higher populations (e.g. cities) have a higher percentage of homosexuals. This is seen in almost all (if not all) animals, not just humans.
Fifth, we are assuming that homosexuals do not breed or breed very infrequently.
So here is my question: Is it be possible that increasing rates of homosexuality will reduce the rate of human population increase enough to prevent an overshoot that will lead to human extinction? Simply, could homosexuality save the human race?

I’m not gay; this is just something I thought of in one of my biology classes when we were discussing if our exponential population increase would eventually kill us. I didn’t have time to bring this up in class so I thought I would see what you guys thought.
