Any muffler thats straight through will be loud...espeacially if you have a cat back with out a res. the res cuts noise just as much as your muffler. The cat doesn't cut noise (maybe 5%) but helps performance if your boosted or really well built. If your really concerned and have a little extra cash, I would suggest a double pass Mugen muffler. Its not a straight through muff but acts like one and cuts the decipals to almost nothing.
Mugen doesn't make one for a 5th gen accord, i think.
I thought of the mugen design. It's pretty much the idea of loooping the sound wave back to the immediate damping and thus able to reduce the sound twice as much compared to the regular method. that's why I though of installing the resonator just a bit before the muffler. That way, the sound waves will not be able to dense up like they were and will be a bit less noisy than when the resonator is normally put so far away. :dunno: it's just my thought, might work, might not.
