The b16 can handle more power then the b20 block due to it's design. The b16 block can take 300+whp before you really need to start to worry, while the b20 will probably crack a sleeve before that. The b20 + boost is great if it's built.
On a side note how much power were you making? What size of turbo were you using? 7psi means nothing.
It just goes to show that crappy tuning will destroy a motor not the amount of boost you run.
What exactly broke in the motor? Generally you'll crack a ring land or melt a piston before you break a rod, must have been some pretty severe detonation.
