my buddy did up a d16z6 with a cam......it pulls pretty good for what it is.....but im sure you heard this before don't get tied up in a sohc cuz later you'll realize you coulda bought a b or h motor with way more potenial then any sohc......trust me it happened to me and i got into a slump with building my car for about 1 1/2 years. when your ready move to the b or h ....take your time .....speed cost money how fast you want to go?
