The United States is a Judeo-Christian Society, that is the short and straight of it. You may not be happy about it, but there it is.

There are nut jobs who claim to do things in the name of God, G-d, Yahweh, Allah, the Christians don't have a monopoly on it, they just get their names in the papers here a lot. When I refer to decay, I am talking about negative trends. Like the 1/3 of the adult black men being in jail thing, or "artists" being hailed for singing about killing the Po Po, or raping or killing random citizens. The positive thing that religions can bring are a framework to work within, the playbook I mentioned earlier, but they also can end up blowing up abortion clinics, which I am against because there is one in my building.

The states can pass whatever laws they please, whether it breaks Federal law or not, as long as it is not a power reserved specifically for the Feds. (For example, they can't coin money.) Those things may, and probably should get challenged in court. Like when California passed a law stating that illegal aliens, oops, I mean undocumented guest workers were not eligible for benefits like free healthcare, or education. This was struck down by the 9th Circus Court as unconstitutional.
