The most delicate time for the paint is the first 48 hours or so after it's painted. Then it becomes really hard for a few months until it fully cures, when it softens a little again. during this time it may crack and chip easier (say if you get a ding), but taking the paint off by washing it ain't gonna happen (unless you're being a dumbass and using harsh detergents and steel wool :chuckles: ). As a matter of fact, most body shops will wash your car (and lots of times wetsand and buff it if necessary) right after they put everything back together, before you get it back...so that it looks all purty.
Don't wax for a couple of months, though, because as the paint cures, it releases minute gases...if you have them sealed in with wax, it could cause what they call "pinholes" in the paint....which look like actual pinholes.
At least that's what they done learnt me in school. :exnbp:
