I drove my car in the rain 3 days after getting a new paint job and washed it after two weeks with a very mild car soap. Just be careful when you wash it and try to keep it clean as often. If you wait too long to wash your car you may not get everything off.

 

You could and should wash the car weekly. If you properly wash the car it should not do any damage.

Use a new-paint safe Glaze such as 3m Imperial Hand Glaze or Meguiars #5 (my preference, works well).
