But it's still a decent question... isn't it? If he hasn't powered the iPod on it might be the reason the headunit isn't sensing the auxillary source unit. If he has, I haven't got a clue why it's not working... unless it requires a higher powered signal to trigger the sensor.

Just tossing out some ideas.
