yeah, i actually had the compression results in another thread that i think you had replied to. they were 220, 211, 216, 205 the first time, and the second time yielded a 196 on the cylinder that had 220 the first time. the engine seems to run fine other than the smoking. i had suspected that the headgasket may be bad because there is an external leak of oil and coolant, but i can't pinpoint where exactly it's coming from. it really looks to be coming from between the head and block, though. the smoke is definitely white, but i can't decide whether it's oil or coolant. it smells very slightly sweet, and it doesn't really smell like oil.
Oh, ok. I remember now. I hate to tell you but it just might be a blown headgasket causing these problems. It is expensive or time consuming but it is the first step I would take. It sounds to me like the leak between the head and block and the white smoke is a headgasket gone bad.
