I sure hope she didn't pay that much. The absolute highest price listed on cnet is $199 and it can be had for as low as $149. Unless she bought it with the EasyShare dock which then I could see how the price would be higher. The dock is yet another layer of idiot-proofing with shortcut buttons for emailing pictures and whatnot. Cnet doesn't have an actual rating for this camera, but they gave its stablemates the CX7530 and CX7430 pretty good marks. I'm sure it works fine as a regular point-n-shoot camera which doesn't exactly require its user to do much in the way of actually think. I'd say it's reasonably equivalent to the Nikon Coolpix 3700.

For about the same money as the camera without the dock there is the Canon A75 which has a bit nicer of a lens and some more advanced features but it's also more bulky and (assuming she got the dock for the Kodak) less idiot proof when it comes to things like email.
