Basicly any h or f series tranny will work. Since its an automatic i dont believe that any of the h22a trannys will work though. All of the 93 through 96 h22a's were manual, and all of the 97 & up models have the sport shifter auto(i think you have to have the correct ecu to make the ss tranny work). If i were you i would be looking for an ex model transmission. For one the ex model trannys have a little shorter 2nd gear and a lot shorter 3rd gear (than the lx trannys) for better acceleration. And for two those of us who have dx and lx models u know that the car cuts off at 120. The ex model either doesnt have a governer or i just havent went fast enough to hit it (about 135mph). The h series trannys will put you so high in the revs that you would eat alot more gas and you wouldnt gain that much in preformance to outweigh it.(lx tranny 2500rpms at 70 mph in 5th, h22a tranny 4000rpms at 70mph in 5th)

Honda governers are in the tranny not in the ecu. You can argue all you want to but i know for a fact that me and my boy both have h22a swaps. I have the FULL swap (h22a engine and tranny) and he only has the engine he kept his F22 tranny. We both have reprogramed ecu's and he has a VAFC II w/vtec controller. Mine will do 150 or faster all day long. His cuts off at 120 in the top of 3rd gear. the auto trannys should have about the same gearing diffrences and the manual.
