Actually believe it or not, but some referees view the smog book laws as just guidelines to help them do their job. Some believe in smogging jdm engines and some do not smog jdm engines at all. You just need to find the right one. Like some referees will not even smog a b16a just because it is jdm.

it's easy in japan to have less than 50K miles on the original engine. simply they do not use the car as much.

I know people who has put 20K miles on their car in the past 10 years.
