Well, by that logic, you shouldn't build an ls/vtec, because it's not oem, it's just something that someone thought would work well.
The P30 is the wrong ecu because, it's a 1.6L.
The P72 is the wrong ecu, because it is optimized for the GSR intake manifold, and GSR cams, with a really low vtec level. Plus you will have to add a knock sensor.
The P73, ITR ecu, would be the closest to a 1.8 Vtec. But those only come in OBD2 flavor, which means additional wiring of sensors.
