Default 97 civic p0170 & p0171 (fuel injectors?)

About a month ago my car had the check engine light come on, so I took it to Honda. They ran a diagnostic and told me the code could either mean i needed the valves adjusted, or the fuel injectors replaced. I elected to have the valves adjusted first because it was alot cheaper. (the valve work was $180 and the fuel injection work was estimated to be ~$700!)

Now the light has come back on, and I just took it to autozone to get the codes (just to make sure it was the same one). Called Honda to verify that it is, here are the codes:

P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1)
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)

Do you guys think this means the fuel injectors need to be replaced? I do notice the car seems slugish and is getting ~16-18 mpg. Also, would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction to getting started (I'm a beginner to this kind of work)

Thanks in advance for reading the long message and helping!
