I just said I like Lucent chipsets on them because they work great on both platforms without unusual problems. So they must be right-on with the hardware standards.
If the wireless network is 802.11g, then either 802.11b or g will work on it. You may find compatibility problems going the other way with some cards. I believe most g cards do transmit and receive by either standard, though. It's worth checking up on. Look for reviews on cnet when you find a model that looks good.
I'd go with b if you're not sure.
