I think the price has a lot to do with it. And at the time people aren't used to 25k+ sports coupes from Japan. Now we have 350z, wrx, sti, evo, etc, and bunch of other 30k+ imports. But I guess prelude was too early for its time in the USA and before the trend sets in it was discountinued.
Now if Honda is to sell it again, make it AWD (torque steer is a problem with the FWD), 240hp and it will burn 350z, Sti, and Evo like a hot peeled potato on tissue paper!

I highly doubt Honda would ever do that, an AWD drivetrain would be extremely expensive compared to the FWD that most of their lineup besides the s2000 and NSX in North Ameria uses, I just cant see Honda switching to an AWD system on it, its just wayy too expensive for a product that isnt a sure seller, like a civic(which is now even struggling to keep up with their other products.)
