Usually people with CRV setups will either place a VTEC head on the block or turbocharge them. A stock CRV setup will not get you over the 200+ hp range. The CRVTEC setup is probably your best bet. Although it will require you to find all nessasary parts [CRV longblock, Integra LS intake manifold, axles, shift linkage etc, etc.] Do a lot of research before performing the CRVTEC setup. It is not a easy changeover.
Word.
This engine will yeild much more torque, HP, and reliability than anything these others are recommending.
the H22(prelude engine) will make your car more front heavy.
the B18C1(Integra GSR) gives 170 hp to the fly, and is a good engine, however,
the CRVTEC as it is known, has more displacement, and if you build it up at the same time, you can get 220-240 hp to the wheels NA. It requires a lot of machinework. However if your bore it out, and built it right, then 250 shouldn't be too hard to get.
Those who say B18C5(Type R) are misinformed, Not cost effective at all, and its basically a factory tuned B18C1, for the money even the B18C1 being built up will cost less and be more powerful than the B18C5
as far as the engines go, IE: B18C1 the B is the series of motor, 18 = 1.8 liter C and the Letter refere to the head, and the mapping and interal works of the head.
so the CRV motor is a B20 = b series 2.0 liter
the B16A1 is a b series 1.6 liter engine
however a D16Y6 like found in a typical stock civic, is D series 1.6 liter, parts are NOT interchangable with a B16, or other B series.
make sense?
