If you buy it, you'll need the special supermicro case and the powersupply that goes with it. Xeon boards have extra connectors for power.
I was thinking $700. The case is a server case with 7 hotswap scsi bays and weighs a ton. The MB is new, never been used. I'm actually in the process or putting it in the case, since I sold the old 860chipset based MB.
But for $700 I would imagine you can get a kick ass P4 system.
It would run as a single 4.0GHz if the software can take advantage of dual processors (actually quad since they each have HyperThreading). I'm now sure which programs take advantage of it, but I do know when I used PS7 on the Xeon system, it was super fast. Same with video editing and encoding.
