A DSM is only fun if you have something else to drive. My bad on the tach, I have one, and I was taking it for granted.
A CX hatch is a highway-capable go-kart. Of course it's easy without power steering. You just have to drive non-power steering cars differently. If you're not at a dead stop, you can still toss the wheel around, but it can get tiresome if you do a LOT of stop/start city driving... and you if ain't got a set (act like you do). It's not a heavy enough car to really warrant having power steering. It is a heck of a lot more responsive. You'll feel more bump-steer, too.
In other words, you get used to it.
