It's a remotely controlled part (manually or electrically) that dumps your exhaust where you want it (after the header on an N/A, as soon as possible on a turbo.) In other words, it's like cutting out your exhaust system whereever you want to to expidite the flow of exhaust. Ask me later if you have questions.
