Default Taking out the alternator

daym, it seems impossible to take out the alternator without removing the manifold. i unbolted the 2 screws that holds the alternator and unhook all the plugs but i cant seem to remove the alternator to change the pulley, do i take it from the bottom or the top? what's the easiest way to take out the alternator? i'm hoping i wont have to remove the manifold or the breaking fluid container. please help
