Most people have Fire Detectors and never use them either. Does that mean you want to just turn yours in and hope for the best? No thanks, I'll keep my destiny in my own hands, as much as I possibly can.
Of course, EDUCATION is the key to all of this. Just like with anything else, cars, fire, toys, drugs, sex; they're all potentially dangerous but because of education of varying levels we utilize them relatively safely. It should be no different with Firearms.
