A breaker bar is simply a bar of metal tubing. You slip it over the end of your wrench, thus making the wrench much longer. With more leverage its much easier to turn bolts that were damn near impossible with your 1' wrench handle.

In terms of what it looks like, its just a bar... could be a shower curtain rod, a chin-up bar, or whatever relatively strong piping you can find that will fit over the end of your wrench.
