I did the exact think for my ethernet cable when it was chewn through twice by my previous dog. There's a way I learned to do it, spread the wires apart, force them thru each other perpendicularly and loop one around the other, and then loop the other...it's confusing, but I tested it on a 22AWG wire and it held up 70lbs in my shop class.
