take a hack saw to your stock shifter and take it somewhere where they can rethread it so that the shift knob will screw on. dont cut off too much though oh and yes you can get a smaller shift knob but it wont make the shifter appear shorter. it will actually show more of the metal shifter. i got a smaller shift knob and it just looks silly. you could also buy a short shifter. these dont actually shorten the throw, you have to buy a short throw adapter to shorten the throw. it just depends on if you want to spend a lot of money or not. you will get a short shifter either way.
