VAFC == Vtec Air Flow Controller, NOT Air-Fuel.
And it does not offer NEAR the fine-grained control that you can excercise by using the honda ecu as a stand-alone platfrom.
And I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that the Honda Builder's handbook, has not kept up with the progress made in the ECU reprogramming scene in the last, oh 6 months....
As far as responding to changes in atmospheric conditions, why wouldn't it, it's the honda ecu....... And as long as you don't get some bullshit mugen race program, all sensors can be maintained, no problems.
And with any motor with simple bolt-ons, the paramaters of the engine are well known. And taking one program that has been dialed in on the same motor will yield decent results. Yes there will be minor improvments that woudl come from fine tuning to the individuals motors nuances. But overall, you WILL see SAFE power gains, from an appropriatly tailored chip.

where did all of this come from?
