A check engine light is not a maintenance required light.
If it comes on,.. something is wrong. It may or may not be a big thing, but you should check it out before you reset it.
Most probably it's a sensor. Jump the terminals behind the glove box, and see how many times the light blinks. Then open your manual, and see what the code means.
