I have no problem racing with my 91 Accord Ex auto, i leave it in D4 all the time but luckily it has a sport shift button so it shifts automatically at near 6000 (almost redline), with this sport shift feature it shifts higher and down shifts faster. When im racing i just apply the brakes and rev it up good then dump the brakes quick and i get pretty good takeoffs.
