Thats my personal view. Im not into the American car scene because obviously you see what cars are on the side of the roads.

1. 02 accord 4cyl sedan
& my toy car
2. 98 GTI vr6 turbo'd w/ 95 engine
Every Spring my brother and I take our cars to the pocono raceways ( April 10- 11, 04 )
and we race around the track. its about 6 of us.
One of our friends has an 01 Corvette not sure what type though. Dont really care to know.
All I can vouch for is that I smoke his ass on the track.
My GTI takes off quicker and top end is beyond great.
Now It could be power/weight ratio as to why I whip him but,
corvettes arent what they are cracked up to be.
yea well i think gti's suck
a few points, though
first of all, you have 300+ whp in a car that weighs next to nothing. and i'm sure plenty of other work.
second, the transmission in a vette determines a lot of its performance potential. if he's got an automatic, chances are he's got the crappy 2.73 gears. tell him to get decent gears and a nice stall converter, and then tell me you're still smoking him at the track. if he's got a stick, does he know how to drive it? owning a corvette doesn't necessarily mean you can drive it.
finally, you can make a piece of crap do the quarter mile in 8 seconds, but in the end all you've got is an 8 second piece of crap. i'd take the vette over a gti any day.
anyway, it looks like you have a pretty sick car. if it's not too much trouble, you think you could post a time slip of you vs your friend?
