Yes HPDEs are easy to get into but also easier to die in. Their rules are really laxed at HPDEs. You don't need a SA helmet, you don't need a minimum 4 point roll cage, etc...
all hpdes require a m90/sa90 or newer compliance helmet...all convertibles require a 4 point roll cage but coupes and sedans don't
as for autox i'm not sure what helmet req'ts are and if convertibles require a roll cage
