Well in the Grand Sport Classes there are Corvettes, Porsches, BMW's 350Z's Mustangs and Camaro's competing and I believe there have been several entries for Integras in the past......I have not seen a FWD car win a race in that Series.
For this Autocross that your friend is in, it depends on how big the series is and who he is competing with. If you are a good driver with a good car, you can beat a poor driver with an average car. Don't assume that anyone who has a Camaro is necessiarliy a good driver or has the car set up properly. RWD is only helpful providing you have a good set-up and you can handle it. But when handled properly it will always beat FWD. If you don't believe me, take a FWD car and a RWD car to a short track oval and see which car skates toward the wall first. It's obvious that your friend has a good combination if he does that well. Imagine what he could do with RWD? Having said that, in pro series FWD is not competitive unless you can change the laws of physics. My question is why can't companies like Honda invest in RWD I would actually like to see that.
