I don't understand why sport compact cars have not gone with RWD and continue to push the biggest contradiction in automotive history when it comes to racing/agressive driving: putting the traction wheels on the end of the car that lifts under acceleration. The only things I like FWD for are in the rain and in the snow if it is an all season vehicle because in those cases the handling is better.
Any car can be called a sports car (within reason) so what makes the drivetrain any different? If we were to use that reasoning you might as well say the same for RWD since AWD is superior.
