Maybe so. I grew up watching monster trucks, truck pulls, Nascar, local short track racing, and reading all sorts of Hot-Rod magazines with killer motors in them. Maybe that's why I'm not really a fan of bolt ons. They help, but a bottom build (overbore or a stroker kit ) is how to really unlock N/A performance and get big numbers. I'm getting a new set of Mac long tube headers an a pro chamber for the GT but I'm not going to put the car on the dyno for that. It's for exhaust sound more than a power adder. When you watch 500-700hp cars roll down the 1/4 mile at 10 and 9 secs, and have seen high horsepower engines all your life, that $600 Mac exhaust and the maybe 15-20 hp gain suddenly seems small in the scheme of things. But then if you really have the racing bug and that 15hp means edging out the next door neighbor who always beats you, then maybe it's worth it. Also to be fair, not all cars have the luxury of space under the hood for a bigger crate engine if their manufacturer even makes them. In that case I guess it is important for a solid engine to start and to chose your bolt-ons carefuly.
