The entire Vodafone threat to buy ATT was a ruse to make Verizon give them control of the wireless part of Verizon, IMHO.

Vodafone is in a very fortunate position. They could have forced Verizon to buy back their 45% of Verizon...which would have been a huge, colossal pain in the neck and set Verizon back for a couple of years.

It was better for both Vodafone and Verizon for Verizon to cooperate with Vodafone and give them more control.

Vodafone control of ATT wouldn't have helped them in the US market any more than their 45% stake in Verizon...it's only going to get them farther ahead by sticking w/Verizon.
