I wouldn't worry about that. You have to totally submerge that filter before it starts to suck up water. If you want a piece of mind, however, they're only $40.

Don't need to. Rip out the resonator and run it thru the opening above passenger fender. Hmmm ... if you wanna do some testing, since you bought a cheap ram air, buy a cheap cai later on and get them both dynoed. Check the results. It'd be interesting. That "black wire hose thing" should be what's plugging into the valve cover, no? It's not necessary.
