I just took my car in to the dealership and had them look at the speedo problem. Turns out the VSS is fine; the speedo is what's broken. They said it's common in 94s to have the speedo crap out, and that the VSS is usually not the problem. The part is $280, and labor another $300. They said it takes two days to calibrate it. I didn't have them do it, but I thought you might want to take another look at yours if you haven't checked the VSS to see if it works or not.
