The engine i think you're referring to, when you say "beat the supra" is simply a turbo VR6. Here's an example of what one sounds like, granted, its got a test-pipe and exhaust, but you get the idea.

Several people have recorded 9-second runs by boosting and building up this engine. I also plan on boosting mine, but my goal isn't as lofty. A daily-driven 12 second Jetta is fine by me.
