Engine sputter upon acceleration on gas paddle!!! --Help--
I brought it to 4 different mechanics already
Thanks in advance for your helps!
I got a Honda Prelude 97 w/ VTec (Automatic) only 67,000.00 miles. I did a major tune up at 60,000.00 miles (new timing bells, new spark plug, new transmission oil, new air filter). The car was running fine until couple of weeks ago. The engineer start to sputter (vibrate) when you increase on the gas paddle, but it would stop if I keep it on a constant speed. It only doing it when increase on the gas paddle and occur after driving it for around 10 – 15 minutes, and drive above 50 miles/hr.
***(It work fine if keep at a constant speed, only occur when accelerate on gas paddle)
I already tried the following:
1. Gas treatments and treated it twice already and it still doesn’t work because I thought it may be water in my gas tank.
2. I also replace the fuel filter, but that still doesn’t seem to work either.
3. Checked wires, distributor, rotor and spark plugs and it look fine
4. Replace transmission oil w/ Honda transmission oil instead.
5. Bring out to a mechanic shop to hook up to the computer and check but they couldn’t find anything wrong with it because there was no engine light on.
P.S. It run fine w/ short distance (less than 10 miles).
Could it be my fuel bump that doesn’t work all the time, it too expense (around $300.00) to try?
