Well, VIPER dont have it yet. There is no risk if you install ULTRA START 2250M [or other model for manual trans] Here how it works: STEP 1 - While the engine is running with the key, place the trans into neutral and apply the parking brake. STEP 2 - Press and release the brake pedal twice. The park lights will flash twice, the siren will chirp twice & the doors will unlock [optional] STEP 3 - Turn the ignition key off & the engine will continue running. STEP 4 - Exit the vehicle & close all the doors. The vehicle will then shut off..and its ready to remote start operation.
By doing this steps, there is NO OTHER WAY of setting your vehicle to "ready mode". PLUS, if someone open your door & put your trans in gear, it cancels the operation. [Once the door opened, the door pin switch will activate and send signal to the brain that will de-activate the program] .... You CANNOT just start your engine whenever you want, you have to follow the procedure for safety reason...

Here is some words of wisdom.
I have also a 98 GTI VR6 Turbo.
I installed a Viper 790VX alarm system into my car. ( German cars you could install remote starts without by passing the clutch.
Well when I was done installing the alarm and went to auto start the car was " accidentally " left in gear and lunged forward when started.
Now my garage has a big black dent in it.
Now Imagine if there was a kid in front of the car when this happend. Or if I parked it in the street and tried remote starting it while its in gear.
