Some of the newer European cars with long oil intervals take 6 or 8 liters of oil. That makes a big difference...

Are your driving habits very consistant? If so, after maybe 6k miles get your oil analyzed. Then you'll find out how much it's 'used up'. Do that a few times to see how consistant you are.
