Fast-Ford... to answer your question: The reason 4cyl and 8cyl cars do not compete in sanctioned racing events is because the 4cyls are clearly out matched.
Now answer my question... What do you drive?
I drive a 2003 Mustang GT........bone stock except for a Flowmaster catback which I put on for sound..........the gains are mimimal without headers or an H-Pipe. I'm not into bolt ons so much, I mean 5 hp here or 10 hp there doesn't interest me when weighing the cost vs a new engine. I am pleased with the car as delivered but it is nowhere near the car I intend for it to be.
The upgrade plan is for suspension first, then the rear end, then a crate engine while keeping the appearence mostly stock. The car is in storrage for the winter. I will be making some upgrades this spring.....but I haven't finalized what I'm buying yet. I'm not gonna sit here and shoot off about supercharging it and stuff because that's not what I'm doing with it. It is safe to say that it will certainly have long tube headers and a pro-chamber h-pipe put on but I'm still working out which suspension changes will take place. The car has to walk a fine line between being a good daily driver, and a performer when I want to put my foot in it. Building a suspension to do that takes a bit of investigation on what combination of parts to use. I don't care if the guys at work Turbo their RSX's and get more speed. I'm after a combination that I am happy driving, and that has extreme durability. The car has no trouble turning heads (it's yellow, has a leather interior, and has polished aluminum 5 star rims) and it more than holds it's own on the road.......but I'm not making changes based on what "other" people are doing. I'm building a car that I will enjoy driving and suits my driving style..........which is what everyone who loves cars does right?
Don't look for it to be a super street rod either, at best I may be adding 25 horses at the most.......not enough to make me run down to the dyno shop that's for sure. The headers and exhaust will be added to make it produce a deep sound, the same way I intended with the Flowmasters not for a power adder. Does that answer your question?
