It's not that hard to figure, that the 250lb less, and the RWD could easily make the HP difference it would take to win.
I could walk any FWD car off the line (both running street tires). That ALWAYS gives me a huge advantage.

Power/weight ratio. Using your numbers, and some i dug up.
corvette ~3300/350 --- 9.4 lbs per HP
GST 2900/210 --- 13.8 lbs per HP
240 2650/155 --- 17.09 lbs per HP.
civic 2594/127 20.4 lbs per HP
Notes-
-Yes... RWD helps... but horsepower helps a lot more.
-Stock 240 engines do put out a lot of torque for a 4-cyl... I'll give you that... but the car is still underpowered in the racing world.
Oh... and dont say you could take ANY type-R... that's just asking for it.
