as for the generic one...it might be just like the DC. My friend has a generic one from Auto Zone. it feels cheap (way too light), the shifts feel cheap, and it's way too tall.
Mine from AutoZone feels pretty nice. Height is exactly the same as stock, but with my shift knob the total height is a good 2" shorter than with the stock knob. My shifter will not snap, not at the threads anyway, because my shift knob attaches w/ setscrews far below the threads, almost down to the first bend.
