I definitely agree that they committ suicide. There's thousands of the damn things in my parents neigborhood, and I've run over dozens in my day. You'll be cruising along and they dart out from the side of the road. You swerve, you hit them. You slam on the brakes, you hit them. Sometimes they commit mass suicide. 8 or 9 will run out at one time. I've killed 4 or 5 at once a couple of times.
