Default Condensation, go away!

It rained steadily last night, and when it stopped the temperature dropped and my car was covered in frozen rain this morning. No big deal, I thought to myself. So after I ran the defrosters I noticed my windows were not clearing themselves. I had a decent amount of condensation on the inside of my windows (specifically the windshield but not limited to).

What caused this and how can I prevent this from happening again? My commute to work was difficult enough, without the added stress of experimenting with the heater and A/C controls to remove the condensation.

FYI, my windows/sunroof were tightly sealed. And Japanese heater/defrosters are the worst, bar none.
