they just banned partial birth abortion. clinton had rejected it several times for not including regulations on whether it was medically necessary or not, but bush encouraged them to do it.

partial birth abortion is where abortion is performed after the frist trimester (3 months and on), where the fetus is partially delivered and then it is aborted (its rather nasty, i won't get into details). it isn't used much, but when it is used it is usually because there are complications in the pregnancy, and could cause serious damage to the mother as well as the child.

i would never get one unless it was needed, but the problem here is that this is the beginning of the road of the end of abortion. i'm a firm believer in using birth control, so i will hopefully never need to get one, but the same people who want to get rid of abortion also believe that abstinence only education is the only way to prevent unwanted pregnancy (which statistics show only increases unwanted pregnancy). bush has elected at least one person into office that refuses to give out birth control to single women. and we don't want people like that making abortion laws.
