Ur gears are only made to go up to a certain rpm before they give up and let you downshift...ever try to put ur car into reverse without comin to almost a complete stop? thatz because the drive wheels hafta be stopped before u can shift it into reverse...same thing when ur goin 70mph and u try to get it into 2nd...u can do it, lose ur tranny, but it gives a fight before you do it!
Bottom line is: Downshifting is baaad:nono: unless necessary(unless ur racing of course)
so you are saying that when i drop it into 3rd at 55 mph and then to second at 40 mph, this is bad for my car? I down shift all the time. I did this for 3 years in my 92 Prelude Si and I never had one clutch go bad on me except for the one i had to change very shortly after i bought the car.
