If you have a good B16 just build it. You can turbo that motor as easy as an ls. Just watch the boost levels with the higher compression.
If you have the B16 tranny just use it. It will work fine with the turbo.
It is true that better torque will be availiable with an ls setup. Depending on how you drive that might be a good thing. A stock B16 makes almost as much torque as a Stock ls however that torque is so much higher in the rpm band that it is a major diff in the way it drives. Go drive an ls teg and you will see the diff. The B16 is capable of much higher hp numbers but only at high rpm. At street rpm the ls is a much more drivable motor capable of good hp. For this reason a ls turbo may be the way to go. You can still keep your B16 tranny But with the ls/turbo you may be faster with the ls tranny.

When is torque a
BAD thing?
But well said about the rest of your commentary.
